Can I bring my dog(s)?
Well-socialized dogs are allowed on hikes where permissible. Only well-behaved dogs are allowed (dogs that do not bark incessantly, do not jump all over people or lick them uninvited, and get along well with other strange dogs). You must have your dog under control at all times. This means that either your dog responds to your voice command to come and/or stay, or you keep it on leash. Dogs are not welcome at pre-paid events unless the event detail specifies otherwise. Please do not abuse this privilege, as it can and will be revoked if necessary.
Do I have to have my dog on a leash?
First of all, you are responsible for your own dog. This means if the law says your dog must be on a leash and your dog isn't, then you are solely responsible for anything that happens (ie dog gets hurt, dog hurts someone, dog hurts something, ticket, fine, etc). Most hike locations require your dog to be on a leash. It's also just a plain old good idea. Please review our section on Hiking with Dogs for more information.
Should I count my dog as a guest?
No, dogs do not need to be counted as guests. :)
How do I know if dogs are allowed on certain hikes?
Each hike has a description in the beginning that will indicate whether or not dogs are allowed.
