FAQs- Liability Waiver Language
What does the Liability Waiver say?
This is the text at the top of each sign-in sheet, which according to PNWLH rules & regulations, you will be required to sign before participating in each hike. A new waiver must be signed each time. The text reads as follows:

-Assumption of Risk: Certain risks are inherent in any PNW Leisure Hiking activity (PNWLH). Each PNWLH member, guest, or non-member participant agrees to accept personal responsibility for his/her safety and the safety of minors or dogs accompanying such persons. PNWLH cannot ensure the safety of any participant of hikes or activities. Each participant agrees to hold harmless and free of blame the Organizer(s) or Assistant Organizer(s) and PNW Leisure Hiking and its members and guests for any accident, injury, or illness which might be sustained from participating in hikes or other PNWLH activities.

-Neither PNWLH nor landowners are in any way liable for any injury or illness I might sustain while participating in a PNWLH activity. I will and do hereby assume the above-mentioned risks and will hold harmless the Organizer(s) or Assistant Organizer(s) and PNW Leisure Hiking and its members and guests from any and all liability and claims of every kind and nature whatsoever, which may arise from or in connection with my participation in these activities.

-Each participant acknowledges that a First Aid/CPR certified person may not be on the hike and he or she is responsible for their own medications. Each participant hereby gives permission for any qualified person or medical personnel to render necessary emergency medical care for him or herself, or his or her child if a minor, or his or her pet.

-Each hike will be designated by a Hike Leader. In the event of a large number of hikers, or to accommodate the differences in hiking skills, smaller groups may be formed. Each group should have its own co-leader, who will advise the Hike Leader of any alternate plans.

I DO HEREBY CERTIFY BY MY SIGNATURE THAT I HAVE READ, UNDERSTAND, AND AGREE TO THE ABOVE-MENTIONED TERMS FOR MYSELF, AS WELL AS ANY PETS AND/OR MINORS WHO HAVE ACCOMPANIED MY TODAY.

Why do I have to sign the liability waiver at each hike? Isn't one enough?
This sign-in sheet/liability waiver serves several purposes.
#1: It helps me keep track of each person who is attending the hike. Let's make sure the same number of people head home that showed up!
#2: It helps me keep track of attendance and no-shows.
#3: It releases me from liability as the Organizer should you act irresonsibily or should an accident happen. You are, essentially, agreeing to take responsibility for yourself, any minors with you, and any dogs you bring.
